Jan LaBonne, artist, volunteer and author, will be with us Friday to sign copies of her new book: Memories of the 13th Regiment Tennessee Voluntary Cavalry.

In this book, her main character tells the story of the regiment as well as what happened in East Tennessee when our country became engulfed in the Civil War. Men from Johnson and Carter Counties who wanted to fight for the Union joined this regiment led by Col. Roderick Butler of Mountain City.

After reading The History of the 13th Regiment Tennessee Voluntary Cavalry published in 1903, Jan was so intrigued by this amazing story that she decided to write a shorter, more condensed, and newer version that our present-day generation could easily read and learn from.
