Description

We are having a 100% GOSPEL NIGHT with Lonesome Pine doing the traditional side and Madison Metcalf doing the contemporary side of gospel.

Lonesome Pine (TRADITIONAL GOSPEL)

East Tennessee based Lonesome Pine is a bluegrass band that combines excellent musicianship and tight vocal harmonies. They perform traditional bluegrass as well as more progressive music from bluegrass and songs adapted to the bluegrass style from other genres. Their repertoire also includes gospel favorites, which they will be performing for us.

Banjo player Mike Carter, the leader of the band, calls Chuckey, TN home. A strong lead and tenor singer, Mike also brings his original songs to the band. His influences include The Nashville Bluegrass Band, The Bluegrass Album Band, Lonesome River Band and many others. His interest in bluegrass can be traced back to his great uncles, the Sandy Brothers, who had a successful band in North Carolina for many years.

Bass player Karen Cobble also lives in Chuckey, TN. Karen grew up singing and playing with her brother, Mike Carter. Also an outstanding lead and harmony singer, Karen blends her singing with tasteful bass playing.

Citizen of the world and current resident of Chuckey, TN, Mike Durham plays lead and rhythm guitar, sings lead and harmony vocals, and brings his original songs to the band. A talented visual artist, Mike consistently brings his unique sense of humor to the band.

Mandolin player Jeremy Painter, also from Chuckey, TN, sings lead on several songs. Jeremy brings energy and drive to the band with his outstanding mandolin work. Often a crowd favorite, you won’t want to miss Jeremy’s playing.

Rhythm guitar player Tim Carter calls Limestone, TN home. Tim is the newest member of the band and sings lead, tenor, and baritone. His influences include traditional favorites The Bluegrass Album Band, Flatt & Scruggs, and The Johnson Mountain Boys. Madison Metcalf (CONTEMPORARY)

Madison Metcalf has been singing since she was able to talk. She started playing guitar at age 7.

A local Christian artist favorite, the 20-year-old native of Greene County says she wants to glorify God through her music and everything she does.

“I want to honor and glorify Him in every aspect of my life and spread the love to others that He has so graciously given to me,” she said.

Asked to explain her songwriting process, Metcalf said it’s simple.

“It’s just straight from God. He gives me the words, and I put them to music,” she said.

Metcalf is a graduate of Greeneville High School and a student at East Tennessee State University. She is also very active in her church, Flag Branch Church of God.

Her band includes Maynard Shelton on mandolin, another well-known musician in these parts. Maynard is also the author of a book about Shelton Laurel, as he originates from there and owns property in the Laurel.

A Southern dinner for only $12 will start at 5pm in the big room under the Auditorium.
