Jonesborough: Christmas Church Stroll

Christmas in Olde Jonesborough wraps up the month-long events of Christmas in Olde Jonesborough with the Christmas Church Stroll on December 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Churches throughout downtown will open their doors for the public to tour the festively decorated sanctuaries, enjoy the sounds of the season, and warm up with hot cocoa while learning about the history of the churches along Main Street.
The participating churches are First Baptist Church, Central Christian Church, Jonesborough Presbyterian Church, and Jonesborough United Methodist Church. Strollers are invited to step into the warmth of these four churches as Christmas music is performed by choirs including the Jonesborough United Methodist Church Choir, the Johnson City Chorale, the Golden Heirs, and Brad Bacon and Company. Performances will also include instrumental pieces on piano, harp, flute, and handbells. The public is invited to join Jonesborough Presbyterian Church from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in a History of Christmas Carols sing along. Also, Jonesborough United Methodist Church will be hosting Community Choir Christmas Carol Sing Along from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Folks can also shop for Handmade Holiday Gifts from local artisans at the Christmas Marketplace located on the plaza at the Storytelling Center and have downtown purchases wrapped for free inside the gift shop at Storytelling. Continue downtown meet Santa and get a festive picture in his sleigh by the Courthouse and enjoy Free Carriage Rides with Old Town Horse & Carriage from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The Christopher Taylor Cabin will be open for public viewing and on the front lawn, make S’mores with Scout Troop and Pack 130. Get a sweet picture inside the Sugar Plum Fairy Cottage, a 12-foot-long wooden cottage decorated with candy and sweets, located in the front lawn.
The Christmas Church Stroll brings a close to Christmas in Olde Jonesborough as the town quietens after the previous weeks of celebration to a tranquil reflection of the season, but the Christmas lights and decorations will remain throughout the downtown through the first of the New Year.
