Get ready for a star-spangled celebration in the heart of Northeast Tennessee! As the summer of 2025 approaches, all eyes turn to Jonesborough, Tennessee’s oldest town, for the annual Jonesborough Days Festival. This beloved event, held from July 4th to 5th, 2025, is a quintessential American festival, brimming with patriotic spirit, live music, and family-friendly fun. But the festival is just the beginning of what awaits you in the historically rich and naturally beautiful region of Northeast Tennessee.
A Festival Steeped in Tradition
The Jonesborough Days Festival is a vibrant celebration of American independence and local heritage. From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, the historic downtown of Jonesborough transforms into a lively hub of activity. The festivities kick off with a grand parade on the morning of July 4th, a colorful procession that winds through streets lined with cheering crowds.
Throughout the two-day event, you’ll be treated to a fantastic lineup of live music. Get ready to stomp your feet to the sounds of Carson Peters and The Iron Mountain Band on the evening of the 4th. On Saturday, the energy soars with a special performance by the ABBA tribute band, MAMMA MANIA!, all the way from New York City.
Of course, no Jonesborough Days is complete without the 7th Annual MoonPie Eating Contest, a hilarious and delicious spectacle for all ages. And for a sweet treat on a summer’s day, don’t miss the Watermelon Social hosted by Ingles Market. The festival culminates on Saturday night with a breathtaking fireworks display that will illuminate the sky over this historic town.
Beyond the main stage, the festival features a juried craft market with talented artisans, a tempting array of food vendors, and a host of activities for children in Patriot Park and Discovery Park. For those who enjoy a good story, Doc’s Front Porch at the Jackson Theatre will feature storytelling, a fitting tribute to Jonesborough’s title as the “Storytelling Capital of the World.”
The festival then wraps up with the annual fireworks display on Saturday July 5th at 10 p.m. Fireworks will be shot from the Washington County Library.
