History Happy Hour
Have you ever wondered about the last wills and testaments that people leave behind? What were some of the items left behind? How big (or little) can a will actually be?
Donna Cox Briggs and the staff at the Washington County Archives in Jonesborough have encountered a wide variety of last wills and testaments from the county’s 200+ years of existence. According to Donna, “The staff and seven volunteers worked for almost a year to flatten, clean, and store in acid-free folders over 7500 wills and during that time, we found some interesting ones.” On Thursday, September 20th, Donna will speak at the History Happy Hour to discuss Washington County wills and the stories behind some of the more interesting wills that they have documented.
History Happy Hour is a collaborative program in its second year at the Chester Inn Museum. The programs are on the 3rd Thursday each month at 6:30 pm, and they are free and open to the public. This month’s presentation will be held at the International Storytelling Center beside the Chester Inn Museum.
