Little Miss Westie, documentary film

The documentary follows a year in the lives of siblings Luca and Ren as they navigate the struggles of school, puberty and gender transitioning. The Lil’ Miss Westie Pageant is coming up and 11-year-old Ren is busy preparing for the competition, as the first out transgender girl to compete in the pageant. Her older brother, Luca, competed in this local rite of passage before he came out as a transgender boy. Joy E. Reed, the film’s co-director and editor, will present a post-screening Q&A at ETSU. This event is FREE and open to the public.
