Storytown Radio Show: Women in Motion

March 22, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

On March 22 at 7 p.m., the StoryTown Radio Show will present a livestream production of “Women in Motion,” an episode dedicated to and all about local women leaders and educators who work to advance education and care for all in our region.

Featured in this program will be stories about Janette Gaines, who teaches American Sign Language, and has twin daughters who are hearing impaired; ETSU’s professor Delanna Reed, a driving force in the Storytelling Community; and the Pack Mule librarians, who helped increase literacy in hard-to-reach places across Appalachia. These stories and others will be featured in the one-hour livestream broadcast on StoryTown Radio Show’s Facebook Page.

StoryTown also has a podcast channel, which has over twenty episodes of both current and vintage productions from the show’s ten-year history. It can be found as StoryTown on Apple podcasts and all other podcast platforms. The podcast can also be heard via desktop at www.storytown.simplecast.com

The Livestream is free, however, during March, the StoryTown Radio Show continues its final weeks of its 2021 fundraising campaign, with a goal of $6,000. To date, the group has already reached half of its goal. This fundraising campaign seeks to fill the gap left by lost revenue due to the inability to sell tickets to the live event since March 2020. Contributions to the fundraising campaign can be made directly online at: https://townofjonesborough.thundertix.com/campaigns/1380. Individuals and businesses may sponsor a full episode for $100 or a full season for $500.

The 2021 StoryTown Radio Show season is sponsored by: The Tennessee Arts Commission, Gary and Sandy Degner, Rae Dee O’Lufver, and the Wild Women of Jonesborough. The March production is sponsored by Brenda G’Fellers.

StoryTown Radio Show:

Now in its tenth season, “StoryTown Radio Show” is a monthly, scripted production, based on local stories and regional music, and performed by an inter-generational, multi-cultural cast of local actors, storytellers, and musicians, to create an audio patchwork quilt of what it means to be home in the mountains.

The Jonesborough StoryTown performance has traditionally taken place at the International Storytelling Center in Downtown Jonesborough, but due to COVID-19 we now broadcast from our McKinney Center Facebook page HERE and subscribe to our YouTube channel HERE to watch also. The performance is also broadcasted monthly to the Tri-Cities region on the local NPR station 89.5 FM, WETS. These productions celebrate the culture, history, and stories of the people of Jonesborough and the Southern Appalachian Region.
