2nd Annual Shady Valley Festival of Quilts
The Shady Valley Festival of Quilts is excited to announce its second annual event, scheduled for April 11 and 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day. This festival celebrates the art and tradition of quilting and invites enthusiastic quilters to submit their creations for a chance to win prize money and ribbons. Special Exhibit:
This year’s festival proudly presents “Fancy and Frugal: Quilts of the Great Depression,” featuring the esteemed Vickie Coleman of Bluegrass Quilt Appraisals. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to explore the rich history and artistry of quilts created during this significant era.

Admission:
Admission to the festival is $10. Veterans and children under 12 can enter free of charge.

More About Vickie Coleman: 
– Founded Bluegrass Quilt Appraisal, LLC after completing the American Quilter’s Society Appraisal Skills Course in 2018.
– Achieved American Quilter’s Society Appraiser certification in 2022.
– Served as an appraiser at Quilt Week in Paducah in 2023 and 2024.
– Provided consultations and appraisals and served as a consultant at The National Quilt Museum in Paducah from 2023 to present.
– Curated a historic quilt display for the Kentucky Historical Quilt Society at the Lexington Public Library in 2021.
– Conducted a Gallery Hop Exhibit and Gallery Talk presentation at the Lexington Public Library in 2024.
– Managed appraisals at Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill from 2024 to present.
– Appraised four museum donations, including one for the Obama Presidential Center, in 2024.
– Authored the proposal that brought the American Quilt Study Group’s annual seminar to Louisville, Kentucky, in September 2023.
– Served as the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society Museum Archives Chair and Quilt Registrar for the Kentucky Quilt Documentation Project from 2019 to 2024.
– Member of the Quilters’ Guild of the Bluegrass, Modern Quilt Guild, Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society, American Quilt Study Group, American Quilters’ Society, Tennessee Quilt Study Group, and the Midwest Fabric Study Group.
