Parade and Firework Celebrations
For millions of Americans, celebrating the Fourth of July comes with parades, public firework displays and large family reunions. These are just a few of the ways to show how much we cherish the birth of our great nation!
Historic Sullivan County hosts some of the finest Independence Day celebrations anywhere around!
BLOUNTVILLE – The Blountville Ruritan Annual Independence Day Parade will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 3, 2021, in downtown Historic Blountville, Tennessee. The parade will begin at Oak Street / Keystone Drive on the east side of town and end at the old Sullivan County Courthouse in downtown Blountville. Line-up for the parade begins about 1:00 pm. Participants should line up on Oak Street, Cherry Street, and Keystone Drive; please stay on one side of the street to allow traffic to continue to pass. Signage will be in place to help facilitate line-up. The theme of the parade is “American Independence Day. Both the West Ridge High School Band and the Kingsport Community Band are planning to attend. The parade will be cancelled only if it is raining significantly at 2 pm. It will not be rescheduled. BLOUNTVILLE – Ralph Blizard Museum (Anderson Townhouse) will feature Bill McCall and “Southern Country” who will be performing from 1 pm to 3 pm, Sat., July 3, just prior to the Blountville Independence Day Parade. Also, there will be a “soft” opening of the future Ralph Blizard Museum from 1 pm to 3 pm. The museum will present “the man and his music”. Blizard was an internationally known long-bow fiddler focusing on old-time music, or music prior to bluegrass and country. Visitors will be asked to complete a short questionnaire designed to generate ideas on how to improve the tour experience.
BLOUNTVILLE – Tours of the Old Deery Inn and dependency cabins will be available beginning at 1 pm on Sat., July 3, just prior to the Blountville Independence Day Parade. Don’t miss visiting Blountville’s premier historic site!
