Greene County Festival of Trees Open House

Festival of Trees Open House Set for this Sunday in Their New Location

Greeneville, Tenn. – The Tourism Department’s Festival of Trees Open House will take place this Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the site in the former Rue 21 store front in the Greeneville Commons Shopping Center.  The open house will feature refreshments, music, Santa, and the opportunity to purchase the limited edition Festival of Trees ornament and register for a number to bid on trees, wreaths, and centerpieces that will be offered.
Silent auction bidding will begin at the open house and take place through noon on Tuesday, November 20.  Entry fee for the open house is one canned food item that will be donated to the local food bank.
“This annual 10-day silent auction is a great way to ring in the Christmas season and to promote team building for industries, churches, clubs, etc.,” stated Tammy Kinser, Director of Tourism for Greene County.  “This event showcases talent and team work and offers families the opportunity to come out, enjoy the beautiful decorations and refreshments and to share in the opening of the season.”
All proceeds from the Festival of Trees will go to fund the Tourism Department and its Sports Council for use in promoting Greeneville and Greene County as a vacation destination and  it’s recruiting efforts for major sporting events. Tourism is a $91 M industry in Greene County, growing 5.3%, which is more than the national average.
Additional hours of bidding are November 12 -17 and 19 from noon to 7 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 1 -5 p.m.; and Tuesday, November 20, 10 a.m. to noon.  All winners must have their trees, etc., removed from the site by noon on Wednesday, November 21.
The Annual Tourism Festival of Trees committee members include Rhonda Humbert, Jama Long, Kelly Merkel, Sharon O’Neal, Diane Shelton, Nicki Sentelle and Tammy Kinser.
The event is sponsored by Food City, SumiRiko Tennessee, Inc., WSMG/WGRV/WIKQ, The Greeneville Sun, Jaron Snoeyenbos/State Farm, Air Pro Heating & Air, Greeneville Light & Power, and Davy Crockett Travel Center.
