Halloween in Jonesborough

Join us in downtown Jonesborough for many Halloween festivities, beginning on October 11 and ending on Halloween, October 31.

To kick off the spooky season, the 5th Annual Lick or Treat Paw Parade will take place at 2 p.m. on October 26 and will begin at Tennessee Tails Pet Boutique. After parading down Main Street, furry participants will have the chance to win prizes in a pet costume contest at 2:30 p.m. Join the after party at Duke and Fox from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m., where there will be music, treats, vendors, and fun. Following the Paw Parade, Main Street Jonesborough will host the 9th Annual Brews and Boos in Jimmy Neil Smith Park on Saturday evening, October 26 from 8 to 10 p.m. Sip on some fall-themed beer and cider while listening to a series of ghost stories featuring world-renowned storytellers. Continuing on the Halloween fun, Jonesborough will have the Jack-O-Lantern Drive Thru where decorated pumpkins will be lit and on display along Main Street from October 29 through October 31. These pumpkins can be picked up on October 26 and 27 and dropped off at the Jonesborough Visitors Center, located at 117 Boone Street, on October 28 and 29. Participants can also enter their carved pumpkin in the Jack-O-Lantern Contest for fun prizes.

On Halloween night, October 31, Main Street Jonesborough will host Halloween Haunts & Happenings. We will have trick-or-treating, games, and laser tag with Paradise Acres. The Hocus Pocus’ Sanderson Sisters will be at the Christopher Taylor Cabin provided by JRT Experiences. Be sure to wear your best costume because there will be a Spooky Costume Contest starting at 7:00 p.m. in front of the Courthouse sponsored by Food City of Jonesborough. The contest will have several age groups and a group category. There is no registration required. Additional parking is available at the Old Jonesborough Middle School for $5 and proceeds will go towards the David Crockett Boys Soccer program. Free shuttles to and from Main Street will be provided from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Throughout the month, Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts at the McKinney Center is holding its second annual Halloween Haunts and Happenings Art Exhibition, highlighting artwork by regional artists meant to give you the creeps. The reception for the exhibition will be held on Friday evening, October 11, from 5-7 p.m. and the exhibition will be on display until October 31. The McKinney Center is also proud to present A Spot on the Hill, the original, research-based play about the inhabitants of the Old Jonesborough Cemetery. Performances will take place at 6:30 p.m. on October 11, 12, 18, and 19. There will also be a 2:00 p.m. matinee performance on October 12 and 19.

The Heritage Alliance will host the True and Chilling Tales Tour at 7 p.m. on October 24, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30. The tour guide will lead participants through Main Street with the “book of poor souls”. The tour will last an hour & groups are limited to 15 people. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at jonesborough.com/tickets.

During all of these events, don’t forget to stop by and snap a picture inside Jonesborough’s first life-sized pumpkin hut. Standing at 12 feet wide and 6 feet deep, The Great Jonesborough Pumpkin Hut features hundreds of assorted pumpkins lining the walls of the hut.
