Join us on Tuesday, October 14 for a Speaker Session with Joe Tennis. In this Speaker Session – and in honor of spooky season! – local author Joe Tennis will take us into the deserted houses and down the haunted paths of ghosts, ghouls, haints, and more in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
Local author Joe Tennis is an award-winning journalist who has authored several local history books, including Beach to Bluegrass, Southwest Virginia Crossroads, and Images of America: Sullivan County. His ghost-focused books include The Marble and Other Ghost Tales of Tennessee and Virginia, Haunted Highlands, and The Ghostly Tales of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Highlands. His articles and photographs have also appeared in Blue Ridge Country, Bristol Herald Courier, Kingsport Times-News, Appalachian Voice, the Virginian-Pilot, and the Roanoke Times. As a storyteller, he has appeared on stages from Kentucky to Virginia Beach.
