Jonesborough: History Happy Hour
May 16, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
FREEHave you ever wondered why people like the architecture of early American houses? That is the topic of conversation at this month’s History Happy Hour!
This month’s speaker, Dr. Peter Noll, will be talking about architecture and focusing on the Doak House on Tusculum’s campus. The program is on May 16th at 6:30 pm at the Chester Inn Museum in Jonesborough. According to Dr. Noll, “I will be evaluating the house by the criteria established in his father’s ‘Lectures on Human Nature,’ specifically his lecture on Beauty.” Samuel Doak’s Lectures on Human Nature were published in Jonesborough after his passing. Dr. Noll is a History and Museum Studies professor at Tusculum University in Greeneville. The program is free and open to the public.
The Chester Inn is a Tennessee Historical Commission State-Owned Historic Site. This project is funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Tennessee Historical Commission
