Jonesborough Yarn Exchange: The Ballad of Strong Women

Celebrates Women’s History Month with the yarn Exchange
March 27th at 7 p.m.at the Storytelling Center
Yarn Exchange Radio Show celebrates Women’s History Month with an episode titled “The Ballad of Strong Women”. Featuring stories from and about the strong women who make up the community in Northeast Tennessee. Woven within these stories are a series of historic ballads about and by women, performed by musical guest Katie Hoffman.
This show will feature tales about the impact of local women’s contributions in areas such as education, the military, community building, suffrage, equal rights, and exploration. Stories include a local Navy Wave from World War II, Shakti in the Mountains owner Kim Bushore-Maki, community leader Dr. Jodi Jones, and community volunteers Dona Lewis, Frances Lambert, Zel Hester and more.
The Yarn Exchange Radio Show is a live performance at the International Storytelling Center, presented as an old-time radio show on Monday, March 27 at 7PM. Tickets are $5 and are available by calling the Visitors Center at 423-753-1010. Seating is limited.
