Johnson City to Host Women’s Motorcycle Rally to Honor Homeless Female Veterans

JOHNSON CITY, TENNESSEE – Shamwari Village for Women has chosen Johnson City, Tennessee as home to their seventh annual women’s motorcycle rally. This unique rally promises to bring hundreds of women motorcyclists to gather at this four-day event from September 26-29, 2024.

This highly anticipated event, known as Lace, Grace and Gears (LGG), is one of the largest women-focused motorcycle rallies in the United States, drawing hundreds of female riders from across the nation. The rally promises a weekend filled with motorcycle camaraderie and veteran sisterhood, set against the backdrop of Northeast Tennessee’s beautiful landscapes.

This year’s LGG rally, hosted at Holiday Inn Johnson City, will embrace the theme ‘Red, White, and Blue’, honoring female veterans. The event will feature a scavenger hunt, motorcycle skills workshops, the annual Parade of Sisters, and a Saturday evening soirée, all centered around the theme of sisterhood—both among motorcycle riders and veterans. The Saturday evening soiree will include female veteran speakers and a spotlight on Shamwari.

Lace, Grace and Gears is a family-friendly event and welcomes riders’ spouses, partners, family members and friends. While the all-female Parade of Sisters is exclusively for women, all other rally events are open to both women and men, with registration required for participation. Rally organizers are eager to involve local businesses and the community in creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

Shamwari Village for Women, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is dedicated to serving homeless women, including female veterans, and those facing mental health and addiction challenges. The organization is actively pursuing the acquisition of up to 80 acres to establish a groundbreaking village where women, including those with children, can reside for up to two years.

Shamwari’s holistic approach to healing will address the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of the women it serves, empowering them to achieve economic stability, meaningful employment, and a purposeful impact on the world.
