Ukulele School
Have your homeschoolers come spend an hour in an introductory ukulele
class the historic Oak Hill School.
Jonesborough, TN – May 14 the Heritage Alliance is partnering with The
Birthplace of Country Music Museum out of Bristol, VA to introduce the
ukulele to homeschoolers in the Tri-Cities area. Hosted in the historic Oak
Hill School located behind Duncan House this event offers the chance for
homeschoolers to learn the basics of the ukulele, some beginner strums,
and a brief history of the instrument.
Erin Dalton, a local Appalachian vocalist, songwriter, educator, pianist,
composer, and arranger, will be the instructor. For the past decade, Erin
has been traveling and teaching everything from elementary school music
to hip hop songwriter/performance courses for nonprofits and
organizations, hopping from North Carolina to Pennsylvania to northern
India. She has spent five years as the director of music camps for The
Birthplace of Country Music, and currently resides in Johnson City, TN,
where she is a music educator, arranger, and frontwoman of Charlie
Maples.
Choose from two, hour-long sessions at 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and be
sure to reserve your spot with tickets as there are only 12 spots available
per session!
