Where to Charge Up in Northeast TN

Ever wonder what there is to do while charging up? Whether you’re coming for the day, a weekend or you live here, we’ve compiled a list of top electric vehicle charging stations throughout the area and things to do close by. Did we mention no parking fees?

Featured are our top spots in each city, with restaurants, shops and things to do. You can come to charge your car, but stay to enjoy the cities and all they has to offer!

Johnson City Public Library (Johnson City)

 

Located at the entryway to downtown, the Johnson City Public Library offers charging stations in its parking lot for library visitors and the public. While you are charging your car, head inside the library and explore their vast collection of books, magazines and entertainment items. When your car is ready to go, drive into downtown and stop in at one of the many locally-owned shops, bars or restaurants. The Johnson City Public Library is located at 100 W. Millard St.

Hands On! Discovery Center (Gray)

Charging your car with electricity is a science and while you’re amping up, head inside Hands On! Discovery Center to learn about electricity, fossils and more. This interactive center lets you and your family learn about science, technology, engineering and, of course, fun! The Center offers charging spots in its parking lot, which is also in the same location as Gray Fossil Site (an active Pliocene-era dig). Once you’re done, head down the road to Gray’s restaurants, stores and coffee shops! Hands On. Discovery Center is located at 1212 Suncrest Dr.

Bristol City Hall (Bristol)  

Located in the Justice Center parking lot (801 Anderson St.), Bristol’s city hall offers charging stations so that visitors can charge up, and then walk straight into the heart of downtown. Explore Bristol’s State Street and see all this close-knit community has to offer. From restaurants and ice cream shops, breweries, countless music venues, to an art gallery and escape room. You’ll want to make sure to add Birthplace of Country Music Museum to your list too. Bristol’s downtown provides fun attractions for you and the family to enjoy. All within walking distance from your car’s charging spot!

The Pinnacle Shopping Center (Bristol)

Located at 416 Pinnacle Parkway, the Pinnacle’s electric vehicle charging stations are within walking distance to all of this open-air shopping plaza. The Pinnacle offers options for everyone. Shopping for clothes, grabbing a bite to eat, seeing a movie and even buying a boat at Bass Pro Shops has never been easier, or more fun. Charge your car and then dive in to some retail therapy at this expansive shopping destination! 

City of Kingsport Parking Garage (Kingsport)  

Enter Kingsport, and you will not want to leave this bustling city full of fun and life. A charging station is located at the city parking garage, 215 W. Center St. Within driving, or walking, distance are some of Kingsport’s most popular attractions. Favorite bars and dining sports are just around the corner, as well as fun activities like yoga, a plant bar, mural trail, ax throwing, and the Kingsport Carousel.

MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center (Kingsport)

Just 10 minutes from Kingsport’s stores and restaurants, MeadowView is Northeast Tennessee’s premiere conference and convention center. Located at 1901 Meadowview Parkway, this 4-star hotel offers a classy, dining experience, a fitness center, indoor pool, coffee shop, relaxing gathering spaces, and a golf course. While charging your car, head inside to grab a bite to eat, or maybe even a room to recharge your batteries too! Once you’re done, you’ll want to take on Bays Mountain Park, for hiking, a planetarium, adventure course, nature center, and the famous wolves.

Rocky Top Campground & RV Park (Blountville)

Whether you’re bringing your electric vehicle, your recreational vehicle, or just a tent, Rocky Top Campground & RV Park is a great option for anyone wanting to experience the natural beauty of Northeast Tennessee. If you aren’t bringing an RV, no worries! Rocky Top has an assortment of cabins and tent sites for guests to get the full camping and glamping experience. While you’re there, take advantage of Rocky Top’s laundry room, game room, sauna, Wi-Fi and more! Rocky Top Campground & RV Park is located at 496 Pearl Lane in Blountville.

Elizabethton Public Parking Lot (Elizabethton)  

Located at the heart of Elizabethton, this parking lot lets you charge your car, and then experience all this town has to offer! As you walk along Elk Street, you’ll see antique stores, an ice cream shop, boutiques, a book store, restaurants, a visitor center and much more. All of it culminates at the end of the street with Elizabethton’s historic covered bridge. A stop in Elizabethton insn’t complete without a picnic by the Doe River! The Elizabethton charging station is located at 404 E. Elk Ave. 

Food City (Erwin)

Located at 110 N. Industrial Drive, Food City in Erwin has charging spaces in their parking lot. So when you come to get groceries, you don’t have to go far for charging. Within walking distance of this spot are chains like McDonald’s and Dunkin’. After you recharge, you’ll want to head downtown for local brews from Union Street Taproom, treats from Groovy Smoothie, or grab a new pair of hiking boots at Erwin Outdoor Supply.

General Morgan Inn (Greeneville)

If you’re looking for fine dining or historic boutique hotel, General Morgan Inn has you covered! This 4-star hotels offers everything from a fitness center and rooftop terrace, to full-service dining and bar. And of course, charging stations! When you come, check out the town’s antique shops, restaurants, or take a tour through the various historic sites along Main Street. There’s even a car museum nearby! The General Morgan Inn is located at 111 N. Main St.

Greeneville Light & Power System (Greeneville)  

Located at 110 N. College St., Greeneville Light & Power System is one block from the General Morgan Inn, offering even more charging areas within walking distance of downtown. Pop into any of Greeneville’s destinations, like a farmer’s market or the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site.

Jonesborough Visitors Center (Jonesborough) 

The Jonesborough’s Visitors Center, located at 117 Boone St., offers more than just electric vehicle charging spots. It offers an introduction to Tennessee’s Oldest Town! At the Center, visitors can learn about the history of Jonesborough, and purchase local art from the gift shop. There’s even a museum inside! Once you’re done, head outside and take a walk down the historic main street. You’ll find candy shops, antique stores, museums, and may even happen upon one of Jonesborough’s famous festivals or parades!

Holston Electric Cooperative (Rogersville)

Right along Rogersville’s West Main Street, Holston Electric Cooperative offers charging spots for visitors. Once your car is charged, see what Rogersville has in town! From local dining experiences, an artist collective, a historic inn, to authentic restaurants, Rogersville offers experiences within driving distance of your charging spot located at 1200 W. Main St.
