Voices from Chernobyl, documentary film
Ball Hall Auditorium
A film adaptation of Nobel prize winning author Svetlana Alexievichs book of the same title, Voices from Chernobyl reveals the stories of the 1986 nuclear power plant disaster from the perspective of the people affected by it from innocent citizens to firefighters. The remnants of the catastrophe are seen in the abandoned, dystopian landscapes that now mark the Ukrainian city of Pripyat, near where the reactor was located, and are heard through the words of survivors recalling the short- and long-term horrors of nuclear meltdown. Voices of Chernobyl is part of ETSUs Earth Month festivities. Contact the Mary B. Martin School of the Arts: 423-439-8587, artsinfo@etsu.edu , www.etsu.edu/martin
