Jackson Theatre Grand Opening

Experience the magic of the fully restored Jackson Theatre in historic downtown Jonesborough during our Grand Opening celebration! Immerse yourself in a weekend filled with live entertainment, captivating storytelling, behind-the-scenes tour, a special short film screening about the theatre, and exclusive events that celebrate the rich history and bright future of this iconic venue. Don’t miss the chance to be part of this unforgettable celebration!

Kicking off the Grand Opening Weekend, join us on Friday, November 15th, for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:00 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., enjoy a themed photo session with Wild Grove Studios, where each participant will receive 2-3 professionally edited photos, available for digital download. Guests will also be treated to refreshments from Main Street Café and Catering.

At 7:30 p.m., enjoy a ticketed concert featuring the legendary Ralph Stanley II & The Clinch Mountain Boys. Earlier in the day, behind-the-scenes tour of the newly restored Jackson Theatre will be offered at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, with the exception of the concert, with tickets priced between $20 and $25. Saturday, November 16th is Storytellers Night featuring world-renowned storyteller Donald Davis and Videographer David Verde at 7:30 p.m. This special evening will include the premiere of a captivating film that explores the rich history and profound impact of The Jackson Theatre on our community, as well as the exciting future it holds. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the power of storytelling and the legacy of this cherished cultural landmark. After the film, stay for a special performance featuring the cast of StoryTown radio show. Free tours of the Jackson Theatre will be available during the day at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.; reservations are not required for tours throughout the weekend, simply meet the tour guides in Stage Door to begin.  This event is free to the public; however, seats will need to be reserved by visiting thejacksontheatre.com.

The celebrations conclude on Sunday, November 17th, with a special season vignette performance by the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre at 2:00 p.m., followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of the Jackson Theatre at 4:00 p.m.
