A Kind of Order; Documentary Film
April 20, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Filmmaker Noel Schwerin spent nearly 10 years in prison in Soledad, Calif. – not as an inmate, but to document their struggle. The result was a perspective on prison culture and hierarchies that few people outside correctional facilities ever see, much less understand. The men learn how to navigate prison’s complex, violent and deeply entrenched, racially divided culture, but now find themselves on the cusp of potentially radical change. “It is a uniquely human endeavor,” Schwerin says. The film is free and open to the public, and the filmmaker will be present for a Q & A session following the film. The film is presented by ETSU’s Mary B. Martin School of the Arts as a part of the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers.
