Greeneville NJCAA World Series Kids Day
May 25, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
FREE Kids’ Day at the Park to Kick off 2018 NJCAA World Series
Greeneville, Tenn. – The best baseball teams in the National Junior College Athletic Association will be in Greeneville May 25-31 to play their Division III World Series at Tusculum College’s Pioneer Park, but before the collegians take the field, youngsters from across the county will be the first with a chance to meet and greet the players.
Kid’s Day at the Park will be held May 25 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the stadium, and all youngsters ages 14-under are invited to Pioneer Field for free hot dogs and chips. There will also be a chance for the young folks to meet the players, collect autographs, watch batting practice and enjoy the pageantry that is the World Series.
The best part of the day for the youngsters is that everything is free. The event is sponsored by Grand Rental Station and Nathan’s Concrete Pump Service.
“We had the Kid’s Day last year and the attendance was great and the players seemed to enjoy having the youngsters around for the food and fun,” said Tammy Kinser, the Greene County Partnership’s Tourism Director who also leads the Partnership’s Sports Council, which has taken on hosting the World Series as a project. “We expect an even larger turnout this year now that the word is out and the kids who were here last year tell others what a great time they had.”
Sponsors of large groups or clubs are asked to contact the Partnership at 423-638-4111 to let them know how many kids to expect.
The World Series will get underway on Saturday morning, May 26, with the top teams from across the country competing for the coveted title. The double elimination tournament will continue through May 31.
