Hiking Adventure – North Fork Stony Creek Waterfall
Ready for a real HIKING ADVENTURE? Join us as we head out to a lovely waterfall in a remote corner of Holston Mountain, in nearby Carter County TN. Along the way, we’ll experience ridgetop geology, winter woodland discovery, and, weather permitting, fine views across Shady Valley. We’ll cover over 10 miles of rugged terrain.
Please note that this is a VERY DIFFICULT hike. We’ll travel old unmaintained trails, semi-maintained trails, and almost a mile of crawling through dense rhododendron thickets. This adventure is NOT for the “faint of heart!” – participants must be experienced hikers! Wear long pants and sturdy hiking boots. Bring plenty of food and water and extra clothing layers – weather can change quickly here in the mountains!
We’ll meet at Warriors’ Path pool parking lot, departing PROMPTLY at 7:30 AM to carpool to the trailhead. It’s about a one hour drive to the start of our hike.
Remember that you must preregister (and pay registration fees) if you wish to participate.
