Holiday Park Celebration at Preston Forest Park

December 9, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Holiday Park Celebration at Preston Forest Park

On December 9, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Kingsport Parks and Recreation and the Preston Forest Homeowners Association will be celebrating recent upgrades completed at Preston Forest Park.

A Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Local Park and Recreation Fund grant provided funding to add a parking lot, a loop walking trail, ADA connections, park benches, picnic tables, a water fountain/refill station, landscaping, a park grill, a bicycle rack and a bulletin board style kiosk.

Additionally, the City of Kingsport has made improvements to the playground areas, signage, the gazebo, and the basketball court. Through a partnership with the Kingsport Public Library, a Storybook Walk is also now featured in the park.

โ€œPreston Forest Park is a perfect example of a great neighborhood park,โ€ said Parks and Recreation Manager Kitty Frazier. โ€œOur ongoing partnerships with the Preston Forest homeowners association, the Kingsport Public Library, Keep Kingsport Beautiful and others have helped us enhance the quality of this important community asset.โ€

Come see the park all a glow on December 9 and drop in for a cup of cider with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

The homeowners association will be lighting up Preston Forest Park with luminaries on December 9 in preparation for their annual neighborhood luminary event happening on December 24 and 25.

About the City of Kingsport

Founded in 1917, the City of Kingsport (pop. 55,400) is located on the Tennessee-Virginia border at the crossroads of I-81 and I-26 near the geographic center of the eastern U.S.ย  The city is widely known as a planned community, designed by renowned city planner John Nolen and wrapping around the foot of Bays Mountain โ€“ a 3,500-acre park, nature preserve, planetarium and observatory.ย  Kingsport is recognized as an International Safe Community by the National Safety Council, a Healthier Tennessee community, and won the 2009 Harvard Innovations in American Government Award for its higher education initiatives.ย  While many city names are duplicated throughout the U.S., thereโ€™s only one Kingsport โ€“ a fact that invokes community pride, known locally as the โ€œKingsport Spirit.โ€
