Hot Bike Tour Returns to Johnson City as Built to Ride Tour
Downtown Johnson City, Tennessee Hosts Two-Day Grand Finale
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. (August 29, 2019) — The pages of Cycle World, Motorcyclist and Cruiser magazines will come to life, in downtown Johnson City, Tenn., during the two-day grand finale of the GEICO Motorcycle Built to Ride Tour, September 6-7. The Tour embarks on a five-day, four-city trek, featuring epic rides throughout the scenic state of Tennessee, providing a unique experience like no other motorcycle gathering.
The event is not new to Johnson City, as the city hosted the highly successful Hot Bike Tour in 2017. Re-branded as the GEICO Motorcycle Built to Ride Tour, the rolling rally includes more national media brands and opens the event up to additional motorcycles, under its new name.
The Tour, which is in its seventh year, will bring motorcycle owners, enthusiasts and industry leaders together to celebrate the open road and freedom that only a motorcycle can provide, with bike shows, music, food, vendors, and rides. The Built to Ride Tour will traverse the scenic byways of Tennessee, with participants showing off their bikes and sharing their true passion for all things having two-wheels.
Once the Tour reaches Johnson City, the event will showcase the popular Pro Builder Bike-Off, featuring top motorcycle builders from around the country. In addition, a Stunt Show, highlighted by the Globe-of-Death Stunt Team from Texas.
Live music will hit the Bud Lite Main Stage, featuring Porch 40, Ashley Heath and Her Heathen and The Company Stores presented by Tennessee Hills Distillery. Participants will also enjoy scheduled rides each day from Smith Brothers Harley-Davidson and ride some of the Southern Dozen series, based in Johnson City.
“Johnson City is the ideal place for the grand finale of the GEICO Motorcycle Built to Ride Tour,” said Tim Collins, Moto Vertical Leader – Bonnier Events. “The city has a wide array of leisure activities to entertain and engage Tour participants. In addition, the roads leading to Johnson City provide some of the most scenic riding opportunities within the motorcycle industry.”
“Johnson City is excited to have the Built to Ride Tour back again this year,” said Brenda Whitson, Executive Director for the Johnson City Convention & Visitors Bureau. “When the Tour was here in 2017, we had an overwhelmingly positive response from both the motorcycle community and our residents. Having an event of this magnitude, provides Johnson City with unmatched national exposure, which will greatly benefit our local businesses.”
All makes and models of motorcycles are invited to participate in the GEICO Motorcycle Built to Ride Tour. Motorcycle owners are able to pick up and take off from any route to join fellow motorcyclists to the grand finale stop in downtown Johnson City.
