Jonesborough: Art in the Park
May 9 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
The twelfth Annual Art in the Park held on the International Storytelling Center grounds is looking for artists and vendors for Saturday, May 9, 2020. Art in the Park is not just for artists and crafters this year. Organizers are looking for authors, performers, musicians, storytellers, and vocalists who wish to share their talents!
Spring in Northeast Tennessee brings thousands of tourists to this area to see mother nature coming to life as the first redbuds and crocus bloom. A favored tourist spot is Historic Downtown Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee, which will be teaming with spring colors and decorations.
The goal of this show is to highlight the fine art produced in our region. The Town of Jonesborough is dedicated to bringing the community closer together, and show other communities the creative influence that the arts can bring to their quality of life. It is imperative that the quality of this fine art show be maintained and offer patrons the opportunity to experience art of the highest standards. Art and craft vendors will be eligible to win prizes:
Best of Show $500
2nd Place $300
3rd Place $100
Best New Artist Free Booth Space next year
Between two and four honorable mentions may also be presented.
One “Best of Tasting” certificate will be awarded.
Public relations efforts will focus on drawing in a crowd that will be attending this event for the purpose of viewing and purchasing artwork.
Another popular aspect of Art in the Park includes the tasting area complete with wine samples, mouthwatering chocolates, tempting sauces and savory bread samples, as well as the area’s own marketplace where folks can sample before they buy. “Best in Tasting” vendors may apply to sell their original creations at the event and provide samples. This year, a food court will be set up, where patrons may eat a meal al fresco and enjoy a long afternoon of art, fine foods, and music.
Eligible artists and fine food vendors can find an application by visiting www.mckinneycenter.com or contact Theresa Hammons, firstname.lastname@example.org. Artists must submit an application, jury fee, booth fee, and photographs of their work and booth set up to be considered. Once juried into Art in the Park, artists will not have to be juried in again. A perk to participating artists will be their name printed in the event program and a hospitality area where light refreshments will be provided throughout the event.
Interested vendors should contact Director, Theresa Hammons at email@example.com or 423.753.0562.
