Kingsport Art Crawl

May 1 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Kingsport Art Crawl to showcase talents of local artists
Kingsport Cultural Arts is pleased to announce a downtown art crawl will take place this Thursday (May 1) as part of the Downtown Kingsport Association’s May Shop and Hop event.
The art crawl will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and feature the following art businesses:
  • Clay Gurus (116 W. Main Street).
  • Found Objects (223 Commerce Street).
  • Impressions Fine Art (246 Broad Street).
  • Now or Never Gallery (201 Broad Street).
  • Studio 116 (116 W. Main Street).
An art crawl is a self-guided event where participants are encouraged to explore these various art venues, see the creations they have for sale and maybe visit an establishment you’ve never visited before.
“The art crawl is a wonderful chance to explore our downtown art galleries and businesses and check out the latest creations of our local artists,” said Program Leader Linore Huss.
Studio 116 will be conducting stained glass demonstrations and Now or Never will be offering free temporary tattoos during the Art Crawl.
Each business will also have cards to hand out and will be stamping those cards for visitors. If you visit all five businesses and get a stamp from each one, then you’ll receive a special bag of art tools and supplies during the upcoming Kingsport Arts Festival.
These bags can be picked up at the festival’s Welcome Booth on May 3 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. You must present your completed stamped card to redeem it.

About the City of Kingsport
Founded in 1917, the City of Kingsport (pop. 55,400) is located on the Tennessee-Virginia border at the crossroads of I-81 and I-26 near the geographic center of the eastern United States. The city is widely known as a planned community, designed by renowned city planner John Nolen and wrapping around the foot of Bays Mountain – a 3,750-acre park, nature preserve, planetarium and observatory. Kingsport is recognized as an International Safe Community by the National Safety Council, a Healthier Tennessee community, and won the 2009 Harvard Innovations in American Government Award for its higher education initiatives. While many city names are duplicated throughout the U.S., there’s only one Kingsport – a fact that invokes community pride, known locally as the “Kingsport Spirit.” For more information, please visit www.kingsporttn.gov.
