| Monday, Feb. 12, 7 p.m. Liyana, documentary film Martha Street Culp Auditorium This combination documentary/animated feature follows a young Swazi girl, Liyana, on her heroic journey to rescue her two young brothers. The story of Liyana comes to life through the imagination and collaborative storytelling of five orphaned children in Swaziland who use Liyana’s story to explore their own emotional life experiences. Through the transformative power of storytelling, Liyana allows her creators to address the devastating effects of poverty, alcohol and HIV/AIDS. Part of the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers. |
