Allison Parker to Exhibit Work at the McKinney Center
Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts at the McKinney Center is pleased to invite you to an event on Friday, August 10, 6 to 8 p.m. featuring the work of artist Allison Parker. The exhibition will run through September 21. The McKinney Center is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Most of the artwork will be on sale to the public for the duration of the exhibition.
Allison Parker studied classical drawing and painting at the Grand Central Atelier in New York City and holds a B.F.A. in Painting and Illustration degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Ms. Parker received a Hudson River Fellowship to study landscape painting in the Catskills and in Jackson, NH. Her paintings have appeared on the television series ‘Secrets of New York,’ seen on PBS and the History Channel.
Allison is currently represented by Clark Gallery in Banner Elk, N.C. She teaches ongoing classes and workshops for all ages throughout the Tri-Cities and will be teaching the second session of Drawing Fundamentals & Techniques at the McKinney Center this fall on Saturdays.
The McKinney Center houses the Jonesborough Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts and boasts of a mission to be, “committed to inspiring the people of our area through both the appreciation of and the participation in the arts as a form of personal and collective expression.” The objective of the program is to, “bring the community at large closer together and show as an example to other communities the creative influence that the arts can bring to their quality of life.” The McKinney Center is a department within the Town of Jonesborough.
