NOLI: Wilderness Survival (One Day Course)
Survival – One Day Course
Despite our best efforts we may find ourselves lost or injured in the backcountry where help or rescue is not immediately available. This fun one-day course familiarizes participants with many of the essential concepts of wilderness survival that will help you stack the odds in your favor including preparation, prevention, attitude, shelter, firecraft, craftmanship, water purification, knot tying, aidless navigation and rescue signaling. Held at our rustic camp on Survival Island, participants use a handline to cross the shallow creek to reach camp under the direction of our instructors as they embark on a fun-filled and truly memorable experience. No experience necessary. Minimum age is 10. Classes tailored to companies, groups, teams, family and friends also availablle upon request.
What to bring
Towel, sunscreen, water shoes (you will use these to cross a creek and then put on you regular shoes), clothing appropriate for the conditions, rain jacket (weather dependent), drinking water or sports drink, bagged lunch and work gloves (suggested). Rubber boots (coming up to near the knee) during cold weather are suggested for the creek crossing.
