Rocky Mount State Historic Site: An Old Fashioned Independence
July 4, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm$10
Rocky Mount State Historic Site will host its annual “An Old Fashioned Independence” on Wednesday, July 4th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event showcases how people in 1791 celebrated the birth of their nation and the independence they fought so hard to secure. Join the Cobb family and friends as they talk about their involvement in the Revolutionary War and the victory of the Overmountain Men. There will be a special program in the afternoon including a reading of the Declaration of Independence as they would have done in 1791, a reading of the Liberty Tree poem, and more. We encourage you to bring a picnic and enjoy the day on site. Visitors will also be able to learn how to write with a quill pen for an additional craft fee of $3.
Admission for the event will be $10 for adults, $9 for seniors (55+) and $5 for children (ages 5-17). Children under the age of 5 are free. All members of Rocky Mount will receive free admission.
