Using Traditional Tales to Elicit Personal Stories and Coping Strategies
Stories from the world’s story traditions often mirror the issues of people who seek professional care: confusion, depression, addiction, grief, and a loss of identity. This workshop demonstrates how these tales also contain coping skills, resourcefulness and resiliency. Suitable for health care workers, caregivers, addiction counselors, bereavement counselors and volunteers in any of the helping fields. Carpenter is the founder of Stories with Spirit, a creative initiative dedicated to bringing stories of hope to palliative care patients, families, and caregivers. She also trains medical professionals in the use of stories as narrative medicine.
