Symphony of the Mountains: Brass Quintet

March 19, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Rogersville Arts Council is pleased to bring the Symphony of the Mountains (SOTM) “Brass Quintet” to Rogersville for a public concert on Sunday, March 19, 3pm in the Rogersville Middle School Theatre. Jacki Ewing, President of RAC: “I am so excited that we have the support to bring in the “Brass Quintet” as our premiere event to celebrate the Arts Council’s 20th anniversary as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization!”
This performance is made possible by support from the Tennessee Arts Commission, Town of Rogersville, US Bank, and several generous neighbors in Hawkins County.
The Brass Quintet, made up of the principal players of the SOTM orchestra, was introduced during the 2015-2016 season of the Symphony; and is proving to be very popular with all audiences. The concert and school performances by the quintet include pieces that are shorter with a lot of interaction between the performers and the audience. The program is geared toward families and children of all ages.
The public concert is presented on Sunday afternoon, March 19 at 3:00pm in the Rogersville Middle School Theatre. Tickets are $20 per person, discounted to $15 for students, seniors, and groups of 10 or more. Tickets are available at Luella’s, Mountain Star Mall, The Medicine Shoppe in Rogersville, and on the Arts Council’s website, rogartscouncil.org.
Concert repertoire is carefully selected to include a wide variety of musical styles including pieces: Bach fugues, a Beethoven March, Scott Joplin Rags, works by Ewald, Mancini and Cheetham.
On Monday, the Brass Ensemble presents two concerts at the Rogersville Middle School for local schools at no charge to the students. Hawkins County middle and high school music classes are invited to attend with their classes. Unfortunately, there is not enough room to bring other students in for these concerts. Thanks to Principal Greg Simpson of Rogersville Middle School for providing their theatre, as well as Band Directors Brandon Linkous of Cherokee High School, Andy Hipshire of Rogersville Middle and Bulls Gap School, and Chris Andies of Volunteer High School for arranging for their students to attend.
