Created in 2005 in Chicago, Third Coast Percussion is an artist-run quartet of classically trained percussionists. Their virtuosic and energetic performances celebrate the extraordinary depth and breadth of musical possibilities in the world of percussion and forge a direct connection with the audience. The ensemble won the Grammy for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble in 2017 and has been the ensemble-in-residence at the University of Notre Dame’s DeBartolo Performing Arts Center since 2012. The New York Times calls Third Coast “commandingly elegant and the Minnesota Star-Tribune lauds their “inspirational sense of fun and curiosity.”
