Two-Day Dulcimer Workshop

Jonesborough, TN – Father’s Day weekend, the Heritage Alliance is partnering with local musician Roxanne McDaniel to host a two-day cardboard dulcimer workshop. Celebrate Dad with this hands-on experience, or simply join for a fun-filled weekend.
Hosted inside historic Oak Hill School House, this event allows participants to build a working dulcimer out of cardboard, learn the instrument’s history relating to Appalachia, and how to play it.
This workshop is open to all ages and all levels of instrument experience. The two-day cardboard dulcimer workshop will take place at the Oak Hill School House in Jonesborough, Tennessee on June 14 and 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. each day. Tickets are $25 per person, and participation is limited to 20 spots.
Roxanne McDaniel is a singer/songwriter, dulcimer player, and traditional music educator based in Johnson City, TN. A graduate of the ETSU Bluegrass program, her music and teaching methods are informed by a variety of traditions including old time, Celtic, blues, rock, and gospel.
