In 1927, record producer Ralph Peer set up a temporary recording studio in a downtown Bristol building, capturing historical performances by a young Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family. Those landmark 1927 Bristol Sessions were officially recognized by Congress as the “Birthplace of Country Music,” sparking a sonic revolution that shaped modern American sound.
