Annual “Long Journey Home”- Musical Heritage Mural Unveiling & Tour”
Though country music may have been born in Bristol, it was conceived right here in the Mountains of Johnson County, TN! Come celebrate and honor our local musicians who, along with Doc Watson, have been credited with starting the Folk Music Revival of the 1960’s”! Long Journey Home begins on Thursday evening with a special dinner and dancing at the Senior Citizens Center. Then Join us on Friday, September 1st in Downtown Mountain City with live music and ‘BUSKING ON MAIN’. Saturday morning begins in Downtown Mountain City with the newest “Musical Heritage Mural’ unveiling and live music, then The Musical Heritage Tour begins- driving tour brochures will be available at the ‘Kathleen Mount Conference Room’ at the Johnson County Library, 211 N. Church Street, where a local Arts exhibit will be open to the public. On Sunday, September 3rd, Join us at Heritage Hall Theatre for ‘Sunday Singing’, Sessions event, and Jamboree. Finally, on Monday, September 4th, join us at Doe Mountain Recreation, 1203 Harbin Hill Road, for Live Music on the Porch, with hiking and ATV riding events.
