3rd Saturday Hiking with Tools

This month we will be hiking out to Vandeventer Shelter to replace the graffiti board which has gone missing. The board is a little awkward to carry, so it would be nice to have a couple of folks to help out with that. Along the way, we may lop back a few rhododendron and may even paint a few blazes if this nice spring weather continues. It is 4.7 miles out to the shelter (and of course 4.7 miles back!) so this will be a longish day.

All materials and tools will be provided, volunteers only need to bring sufficient food and water for the day and wear appropriate clothing for the weather including sturdy walking shoes and long pants. Work gloves are also desirable.

We will meet in front of the Parkway Discount Wine and Liquor Store on South Roan Street in Johnson City at 8:30 am to carpool to Wilbur Dam Road. Other meeting places can be arranged with prior notice.
