Where Art Meets History And Adds A Little Fantasy
APPALACHIAN RENAISSANCE FAIRE TO HOLD ITS SECOND ANNUAL FESTIVAL
PINEY FLATS, TN, – Appalachian Renaissance Faire, Inc., a non-profit organization based in Piney Flats, TN, will hold its second annual renaissance faire the weekend of September 8 & 9, 2018, at the East Tennessee Distillery in Piney Flats. Unlike the usual renaissance faire whose storylines take place in Europe with a King and/or Queen presiding over the festivities, Appalachian Renaissance Faire (ARF) takes place deep in Appalachia and has a Duke and Duchess of Appalachia residing over the celebration.
ARF is like an interactive Historical novel. Our story line is based on actual history, with a heavy dose of fantasy fun thrown in. Our slogan is “Appalachian Renaissance Faire is where art meets history and adds a little fantasy.”
This family friendly festival has a Children’s Area, the Fairy Glen, the Warriors Way, the Vale of Valor where jousting takes place, stages for entertainment with all types of entertainers, and a cast of characters that includes the Royal Court, Pirates, Fairies, Granny Wampus, Goblins, Knights, Dragons, sword fights, music, dancing, food, as well as liquid libation for the adults, and much more. In addition, there will be a Merchants Market of vendors, delicious food and other things to delight all ages.
Ticket Prices:
Adults $15/day or $25/weekend
Seniors (60+) & Vets $12/day
Children 6 – 12 $10/day
Children 5 & under FREE.
ARF’s mission, as a non-profit company, is to educate and entertain the people of Appalachia with the rich Celtic history as well as the unique heritage of the area. Through seminars and classes, ARF will offer a wide variety of arts and history information throughout the coming year. Our signature renaissance faire each Fall, set in 1583 with strong ties to Mary – Queen of Scots, is a unique and entertaining way to teach all generations of the strong Celtic roots established by the Scots-Irish and Seven Celtic Nations, who still hold the mountains today.
