Spring Expo at the McKinney Center
Do you have a child that is interested in art, music, dance, drama, or writing? Are you interested an art form and don’t know where to begin? Join the McKinney Center and Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts on January 14, 10am – 2pm for their annual Spring Expo.
“The Expo is a way parents and students can learn more about our classes,” states McKinney Center Director, Theresa Hammons, “Each faculty member will be set up at his or her table in the auditorium with information about the classes they will be teaching in the spring and some of the instructors will even be doing demonstrations. It is a great way for potential students to learn more about the classes they are interested in, get to know the instructors, and test the waters. We hope that by coming to the Expo that will meet our staff, tour the building, and feel at home here at the McKinney.”
January 21st, is the last day to register for spring classes but registering as early as possible is highly encouraged as classes are filling up quickly. “We pride ourselves on having small classes so that each student gets adequate attention. Over the past year we have seen a huge increase in enrollment. It is great problem to have, but some of our classes are already full. It is important that people register now,” states Hammons. Records show that since the fall of 2014, the student enrollment has increased by 170% and that Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts has provided arts education to approximately 700 individuals over the past two years.
