The main Civil War battle reenactments will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with other activities going on throughout the weekend. Union and Confederate reenactors will perform continuous living history demonstrations throughout the event, including infantry, mounted cavalry and artillery drills. Visit authentic civil war encampments and see how the soldiers lived! Visit the Civil War medical tent and see equipment used by doctors and surgeons during the war. The weekend event will also include a Civil War Ladies Tea on Saturday.
Friday, September 24, is scheduled for a free Education Day for regional schools and home school groups and will be closed to the general public. Students will learn what life was like in the 1860s era. School Days generally allow students to visit a Civil War Field Hospital, learn about the various flags of the Civil War, learn about the uniforms and weapons used by both Union and Confederate soldiers, see a Civil War artillery display and various medical displays. Parents and teachers may schedule their group field trip to the reenactment by contacting the Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism at (423) 323-4660.
Sunday morning activities include an outdoor period worship service beginning at 9 a.m. Enjoy other activities throughout the day, and stick around for the big Battle of Blountville Civil War Reenactment grand finale at 2 p.m. on Sunday!
Registration for Reenactors, Sutlers and Authentic Civilians can be found at:
www.thedet.org. Artillery bounty is $150 for the first Registered and on the field 6 full scale authentic guns. A bounty of $25 will be given to the first Registered and on field individual authenticity mounted cavalry trooper up to a maximum of 10 individuals is reached.
Admission on Saturday and Sunday is $3 dollars for adults, and ages 6 will enjoy free admission.
