We'll carpool to the trail. A quiet canoe in the bright waters - there's no better way to enjoy the peace and excitement of life in the lake! See nature from a whole new perspective. NOTES: You must sign up in advance at the Camp Store, since space is limited. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and SAWC will begin the prep work for the new raised turnpike just south of Route 19E. So many wildflowers bloom in the summertime. Join us for a free, naturalist-led hike to see and learn about some fascinating local flora! These hikes are free and do not require pre-registration. Please dress for the weather, bring water and prepare to hike for about an hour. Meet at the Nature Center. The Bike Shop Ride will be weekly every Tuesday Night. There are detailed course maps on our website www.thebikeshopjc.com. All riding levels are welcome and looking forward to great riding year. Please sign the Waiver on your first ride, it will be good for the whole year. Every Tuesday at 6 PM we will be hosting a mountain bike ride on ETSU's Mountain Bike Trails. National Summit Day
Must Register! Join Bill Schooley for a half day flatwater paddle on beautiful Watauga Lake. Upon arriving you will be fitted to one of our touring kayaks and learn how to safely and efficiently paddle your boat before embarking on an enjoyable trip to an island for lunch before returning. Bring sunscreen, drinking water, shoes Must register! Learn how to use your kayak to reach beautiful locations to camp that you can only reach by boat. Join kayak instructor and kayak camping regular Debbie Briscoe reviewing what gear you'll need, how to pack it, keep it dry and make it all fit. She will also provide useful tips on how Come join AmeriCorps member Cory Franklin on an hike up the headwaters trail to the high country of the park. This hike will offer great higher elevation views of rocky fork along with plenty of cascades along the creeks. This is about a 6 mile roundtrip hike.
